Small Schools - support for IQM

The Inclusion Quality Mark assesses and recognises schools for their ongoing work 'on making inclusion matter'. The local authority has been supporting schools with providing funding for the initial registration fee, to help them in initiating work to achieve the Inclusion Quality Mark. The SEND Task Group, which is part of the work of the Suffolk Education Partnership, has been exploring how to enable as many schools as possible to do this, and what the barriers might be.

The SEND Task group, which is made up of representatives from across the sector, sought funding from SEP in order to assist small schools with a grant - to provide one additional leadership release day and to pay for the assessment at the end. It was identified that small schools struggle in particular with capacity and tight budgets.

The Task Group received applications and a panel reviewed these. The applications which were anonymised.

The Task Group has been able to award 7 grants and it is hoped that, if this process shows that it supports schools in achieving the award, it might be able to open another round of applications in 2025.
